Book & Bun Information Stall –

Liz Campbell and our Board Member, Roberta Walker, will have a table at the Book & Bun in Newmarket Street, Ayr on Saturday 30th July from 2pm -3pm and will be on-hand to provide information and advice.

We have been establishing links with Rev Ian Wiseman who attended our fundraising Tea Party at Auchenday to mark the end of Dementia Awareness Week.  Kingcase Church are kindly holding a fundraising music event for SADSA on Saturday 27th August in the Church Hall where Liz Campbell will have an information stall from 10am -12pm.  We would love to see you there!

Unity Enterprise –

Liz Campbell continues to attend meetings regularly with the South Ayrshire Carers Centre based in the Sandgate, Ayr.

Fundraising Country Music Concert –

A group of clients from both Centres accompanied Liz Campbell, Day Centres Manager and Lorna Lavery, Support Worker in attending a performance by “Vintage Blend”.  The concert was held at Newton Wallacetown Church Hall on 19th July and organised through Opportunities in Retirement.  The band has very kindly offered to play for our clients at both Centres completely free of charge and will be entertaining clients at Auchenday on Wednesday 20th July.  Thank you so much to Vintage Blend for their wonderful entertainment.

As always we mustn’t forget to thank our very own Mr Deans who continues to entertain clients at both Eglinton and Auchenday with his electronic keyboard.

Prestwick Promenade –

SADSA will have a stall at Prestwick Promenade on Saturday 13th August and would be delighted for you to pay us a visit.  All donations are welcome for our Tombola and Baking stall.

Regular Activities –

Barge trips continue, sometimes jointly, with our next trip planned for Sunday 31st July.  This is a special event as it will be the first time the trip has been held on a Sunday giving our weekend clients the opportunity to experience the barge trips.  Eglinton have had an enjoyable outing ‘down the shore’ for ice-creams.  Auchenday had a visit to the new Café 141 at Muirhead in Troon which was most enjoyable for all and very accessible.  Some of Auchenday clients went to Troon on 15th June to greet the annual Glasgow taxi outing for children.  More trips are planned on the Forth & Clyde Canal are planned for the Summer as well as picnics and fish and chips in Girvan and Largs.

Plus, we continue to have parties for all occasions, e.g. Birthdays, St. Patrick’s Day and more recently the Queen’s Birthday Celebration.  Any excuse for a party!

New Faces –

We would like to extend a warm welcome to Tina Haswell who has newly joined our Board of Directors.  Tina has a background in Social Work and will be a valuable addition to our team.  Welcome Tina!

PRIVATE PLACEMENTS

We are pleased to be able to offer private placements in addition to local authority placements.  Days can be purchased on a regular or ad-hoc basis directly from SADSA and can be an ideal way to fit around family circumstances.  Please speak to Liz Campbell for further information.

DONATIONS

Donations and fundraising efforts since our last newsletter in March total approximately £3,500!   We would like to give a huge thank you to each and every one of you who have donated as without this we would not be able to offer the service that we do.  A special mention to the Darroch Trust who donated £1,000 and a collective thank you to all of our carers and supporters who have so kindly donated.  We are sincerely grateful to all.

PARTICIPATION STRATEGY

We have a Participation Strategy to involve Stakeholders, Carers and Users in the recruitment and development of our staff and services.  To this end, we would like to invite anyone within these groups the opportunity to participate in this process, whether this is in interviewing or suggesting how to improve and develop the services we provide.  Please contact us if you would like to be involved.
